The beauty of Taiwan – New Taipei City - Laomei Green Reef & Baisha Bay
There are a lot of places to visit on the north coastline of Taiwan. Today, I am going to show you two wonderful places to stop by.

The reefs formed by wave-cut volcanic lava through thousand years, with ditches in between. In April and May, green algae flourish on the surface of the reefs, forming this magnificent view. You want to make sure you come in the right period and you also need to know the correct low-tide hours of the day to witness this miraculous scenery. Be aware, green reefs are a very unique landscape, so please don’t step on the reefs.
Baisha Bay is a half-moon shaped beach of 1 kilometer long and part of Taiwan Strait. The bike path at the beach is the most-loved spot for sight-seeing. It is not that far away from Laomei Green Reef. It only takes 10 minutes to get there by scooters.
North Coast International Kite Festival is also a big event in Baisha Bay. Usually, it takes place around the end of September to the early of October, 2 days only during the weekends. The festival gathers so many kite players around the world together. Therefore, you will have a chance to see different and incredible kites in the festival. Unexpectedly, a night kite show is the most amazing performance.

My advice is to go there around the late afternoon. You can enjoy sunlight a bit, but not too hot to peel your skin off. Have a romantic beach walk or have fun to soak yourself in the ocean are one of many wonderful activities you can do. Along with the coastline, there is a bundle of coffee shops and restaurants. You can cool yourself down by a cup of ice cold beer or mango smoothie while you are watching the gorgeous sunset.
