The beauty of Taiwan – Taipei City – Treasure Hill

Treasure Hill is a very unique art village. Actually, if you just walk by its main entrance, you will never know it is a place for art exhibitions. However, it has its own style to introduce arts to the public. If you are passionate about local Taiwanese arts and artists, you should definitely come to visit.

Treasure Hill is also called Taipei Art Village. It used to be an illegal mainland veteran village which means the veteran village was not planned and built by the government. Therefore, the houses of villages have its own special figures. Of course, now, no more veterans live there anymore. In 2001, the village transformed into an art village by Taipei City Department of Cultural Affairs. Since that, it has attracted more and more local artists to show their creations there. In 2006, Treasure Hill was selected to be one of the most special spots in Taipei city by The New York Times.

It is also easy to get there. Just take MRT/Green Line and get off at Gongguan Station. Head to Exit 1 and take about 10 minutes to get there. I suggest you to use Google Map to find the direction from Gongguan Station to Treasure Hill.

In Treasure Hill, you need to walk a lot and there is no air condition and a nice walkway. You will face a lot of steep stairs and some bugs. Thus, it is so different from any museum and exhibition center. You can truly touch the souls of local artists.
